Fact or Fiction

There's a lot of misconceptions out there about paving services and we want to clear it up.

True

  • Its more expensive to repair concrete than asphalt.

  • Cold mix is for temporary patching.

  • Seal coat is not designed to repair nor hold a parking lot together.

  • The U.S. recycles and reuses over 60 million tons of asphalt a year.

False

  •  Asphalt is as strong as concrete.

  • Asphalt can contaminate water supplies through water run off.

This is false because asphalt is non-soluble in water.

  • Asphalt is not very durable.

This is also false because the life span of your asphalt depends on the initial instillation, and the maintenance program that is applied. If properly installed and maintained it could last over 20 years.

  • Because of its strength, concrete can be installed on top of broken concrete without any disruption.

False, both concrete and asphalt surfaces are only as strong as the base they sit on.
